Our expected production times have decreased for the second month in a row, heading into April as segments of China’s manufacturing continue to recover after various lockdowns ended mid to late March. Both sheet rubber and silicone sponge expected production times are down 5 days, capping a 15 day decrease starting in February. All other expected production times remain unchanged from March, which is good news as it means the current Covid restrictions in China have not had a substantial impact on the production of GCP materials to date.
Going forward, we continue to keep a close eye on what’s happening in China. The city of Shanghai has entered lockdown and will be enforced in two phases with the closures coming to an end April 5th. This strategy aims to minimize disruptions to manufacturing and trade. Early estimates suggest that the world’s largest port will remain open although trucking in and out of the city will be restricted which could impact shipments.
Molded Parts
With respect to our molded parts, this is the eighth month in a row in which we did not publish a production number. We continue to experience a wide variation of times depending on the style needed. April Production Times
Our April 2022 production times measure the change in days an average order will take to produce from the time it is submitted (all facilities). This includes the time it takes to book a container. However, it excludes ocean shipping and other transit times.
