August 2021 Production Times

The average expected production time for all GCP products in August is 66.5 days. Staying flat from July.

Our August 2021 production time index measures the change in days an order will take to produce from time it is submitted (all facilities). This includes the time it takes to book a container. However, it excludes ocean shipping and other transit times.

Production times for our materials remained flat from July to August, with the only changes coming on the National Silicone side. Sponge production came down 5 days, as compared to liquid silicone foam production which increased 5 days. National Silicone solid sheet production stayed flat from the previous month.

With respect to ocean shipping, we are now in the middle of ocean’s annual peak season which means more strain on ports and lanes. This also means, the issues we were facing the past couple of months (high consumer demand, lagging inventory levels) are now further amplified. Unfortunately this suggests that all segments of the manufacturing and industrial economy will continue to experience difficulties in transporting products abroad and at home.

We continue to recommend all customers order as early as you can. Given the unpredictability of freight and transit times, booking orders now provides the best chance to get goods moving as quickly as possible.
