Average expected production times decreased 2.7 days heading into June as all parts of China begin to open up after nearly 3 months of quarantine curbs in an effort to enforce its zero-Covid strategy. Our Premlene sheet rubber product line saw the largest decrease, coming down 10 days, while our entire National Silicone line (solid, sponge & foam) are each down 5 days. All other expected production times remain unchanged from May.
Moving forward, one of the largest challenges we face with the re-opening of China will center around inland logistics, in particular trucking to get goods from the factory to the port. There are still restrictions on drivers crossing into Shanghai or leaving the city to go to other provinces. Shanghai houses the largest port in China and is a central hub for moving goods in and out of the country. It is estimated that the port is backed up with as many as 300,000 containers sitting on the docks. While we expect production times will continue to come down given the removal of covid restriction, transit times are expected to increase.
Molded Parts
With respect to our molded parts, this is the tenth month in a row in which we did not publish a production number. We continue to experience a wide variation of times depending on the style needed. June Production Times
Our June 2022 production times measure the change in days an average order will take to produce from the time it is submitted (all facilities). This includes the time it takes to book a container. However, it excludes ocean shipping and other transit times.
