Our average expected production times across all product lines decreased slightly heading into September, as China’s “Covid Zero” approach to combating pandemic continues to shutdown some of the world’s largest cities, ports and manufacturing hubs. Our Premlene engineered structures line experienced the only decrease coming down 10 days. While our National Silicone foam line saw the largest increases going up 15 days for solid silicone and 10 days for silicone sponge. All other expected production times remain unchanged from August.
As we move into September, new COVID infections and the worst heatwaves in decades have weighed heavily on China’s production in recent weeks. There are approximately 40 cities, accounting for 32% of China’s GDP, in the midst of outbreaks. At the same time, extreme heat and drought have caused some southwestern regions of China to suspend industrial production, disrupting operations to ensure residential power supply. To revive the economy, the central government has offered another stimulus package in order to promote factory activity and expand production in the coming months.
September Production Times
Our September 2022 production times measure the change in days an average order will take to produce from the time it is submitted (all facilities). This includes the time it takes to book a container. However, it excludes ocean shipping and other transit times.
