After the most recent tariff tit-for-tat between the United States and China, many of us are left asking what’s next for their trade relationship.
In recent days the Chinese Government has opted to disengage from their discussions with the United States. The mutual escalation and lack of direct effort to resolve the tariff dispute has added fuel to the fire on both sides. It also furthers the sentiment that there could be some time and potential widening before we see duties lessen by either country.
Should further escalation take place, President Trump’s next step may be to look at targeting all remaining Chinese imports. These consist of 8,656 tariff lines valued at US $270B.
Although these new potential tariff developments do not directly impact our product lines, the discussion and possibility of escalating tariffs is not something we take lightly here at GCP.
We have been and will continue to do everything that we can to help mitigate the impact these may have on our business together.
We want to keep you, our customers, informed so that you can make the best possible decisions for yourselves and your businesses during these unique times.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding,
The GCP Team
