The average expected production time for all GCP products in July is 66.5 days. Up 0.5 days from June.

Our July 2021 production time index measures the change in days an order will take to produce from time it is submitted (all facilities). This includes the time it takes to book a container. However, it excludes ocean shipping and other transit times.

Production times for our materials remained relatively flat from June to July, however our Premlene sheet rubber brand experienced the largest increase, with expected production times jumping 10 days. This increase is attributed to the difficulty in securing container bookings.

With ongoing pandemic-related uncertainty, non-stop demand for ocean freight from Asia to the US, and a severe lack of capacity, we anticipate ocean booking and transit times to remain volatile and rates to remain elevated through the rest of the year.

According to a recent Freight Right industry outlook, the transpacific westbound is one of the most impacted shipping lanes and unless you are willing to pay premiums and book 4-6 weeks there is no space. We recommend planning as far in advance as possible and for an intermodal shipping plan for double the transport time due to congestion at the ports.
