The average expected production time for all GCP products in September is 67.5 days. Rising one day from August.

Our September 2021 production time index measures the change in days an order will take to produce from time it is submitted (all facilities). This includes the time it takes to book a container. However, it excludes ocean shipping and other transit times.

Production times for our materials increased one day from August to September, with the only a couple of changes to note. Silicone sponge production continues to decrease falling another 5 days in August. Sponge production time has now decrease 10 days since July. On the other hand production for our UHMW rose 10 days and is now taking an average of 65-70 days to produce.

After fifteen consecutive months of ocean rate increases and a 7X climb in the FBX global benchmark, ocean carrier CMA CGM announced it would halt any further spot rate increases on all its services until February (Hapag-Lloyd has also capped their spot rates).

The reprieve is certainty welcomed, although many in the industry point out the cap only applies to base rates and not to surcharges and premiums which could still increase.

Additionally, we continue to ask customers to plan as far into the future and as accurately as possible. This will help for container bookings and securing the lowest rates.
